Join APABA-VA to volunteer to help remove invasive plant species on the Buttermilk Trail along the James River in Richmond, VA, on Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM!

 

Buttermilk Trail West Invasive Plant Removal

We will be removing invasive plants along the Buttermilk Trail to encourage native plant growth and native tree regeneration. We will be working off-trail on uneven terrain and slopes and occasionally around small streams.  This is strictly manual removal, no tools involved. 

 

WHAT TO WEAR:

  • Long pants that cover the ankle
  • Long sleeve shirt
  • Sturdy closed-toe shoes or boots

 

WHAT TO BRING:

  • Bottle of water (provided by APABA-VA)
  • Snack if you need it
  • Your own work gloves if you prefer (work gloves will be provided)

NOTE: The 42nd St Entrance is a large, paved parking lot across the street from 4318 Riverside Dr. If the yellow gates are locked, use street parking and meet us in the lot.
